This Utility Service Worker position installs water and sewer taps using hand and power tapping and boring equipment. Flushes fire hydrants, performs scheduled preventative maintenance and determines the extent of damage. Operates equipment used in the construction, maintenance, or repair of the City's utility lines. Operates motorized vehicles. Assists with maintenance and operations of water meters, valves, and manholes. Locates and repairs broken water and sewer lines.

Performs water meter maintenance and repairs. Inspects of all equipment assigned. Documents work orders and records work activities. Identifies, responds to, and resolves issues of customers involving policies, procedures or safety issues. Must be able to work the allocated hours in the position and be willing to report for duty on short notice at any hour of the day or night.

Other duties may be assigned as required for this position.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent and a Valid Driver's License with acceptable driving record required at time of application. It is recommended that the minimum required TCEQ license is obtained within 12 months of approval to test.

Miscellaneous Information

Medical and dental insurance 100% paid by City for the employee;
City pays 90% of dependents medical (for base plan) and dental insurance with employee paying 10%;
Employee covered by $10,000 life insurance policy;
Retirement:
Texas Municipal Retirement System 2 to 1 match with employee contributing 7% and City 14%; 12 paid holidays; 15 annual sick days. After 1 year of employment, 2 weeks of paid vacation and earning longevity pay of $4.00 per month for each year of service. Educational and Certification Incentive Pay for those who qualify.
