Maintenance Electrician

• Diagnose and resolve electrical malfunctions across shipyard machinery, equipment, and facility infrastructure.
• Execute routine upkeep on power distribution units, lighting, electrical panels, motor controls, and motors to ensure operational efficiency.
• Examine electrical components, wiring, and connections to facilitate necessary repairs or component replacements.
• Analyze equipment manuals, wiring diagrams, and electrical schematics to guide technical work.
• Utilize specialized testing tools to pinpoint electrical faults and confirm the success of completed repairs.
• Adhere to strict shipyard electrical safety protocols, specifically energy isolation and lockout/tags-plus requirements, to foster a secure environment for all personnel.
• Document maintenance activities precisely and collaborate with operations and maintenance staff to streamline repair workflows.

Required Qualifications

• Prior professional background working as a maintenance or industrial electrician.
• Solid understanding of electrical troubleshooting, motor controls, and three-phase power systems.
• Proficiency in interpreting electrical blueprints and utilizing hand tools, testing instruments, and meters safely.
• Demonstrate strong problem-solving capabilities, consistent attendance, and a dedication to maintaining high safety standards.
• Capacity to function effectively both as an individual contributor and as a collaborative member of the maintenance crew.
• Physical ability to carry out essential job functions within a shipyard setting, such as working in outdoor conditions, climbing ladders, and maneuvering to reach equipment, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Desired Background

• Prior experience in marine, shipyard, heavy industrial, or manufacturing maintenance environments.
• Familiarity with programmable logic controllers (PLCs), variable frequency drives (VFDs), and 480-volt systems.
• Completion of an electrical apprenticeship program or relevant trade school education.
