The Division of Academic Affairs and the Department of Minority Teacher Recruitment Program is hiring for an Executive Director. The Executive Director will lead the statewide minority teacher recruitment/retention program, overseeing the EIA Minority Teacher Recruitment Program and the African American Teacher Loan Program.
Duties and Responsibilities- Develop and implement recruitment strategies to attract academically capable traditional and non‑traditional minority students to the teaching profession and to undergraduate teacher education programs at SC State University.
- Manage the programs budget and exercise fiscal responsibility for monitoring expenditures of the EIA Forgivable Loan and African American Forgivable Loan Programs.
- Administer the African American and EIA Forgivable Loan Programs and track the academic progress of program recipients.
- Write legislative reports and make presentations before and to standing committees of the S.C. House and Senate, and prepare annual reports for submission to the S.C. Commission of Higher Education and the S.C. Education Oversight and program monitoring agencies.
- Promote teaching as a career choice and the SC State University Minority Teacher Recruitment Program by attending discipline‑specific meetings and conferences related to education, presenting at state, regional, and national conferences on minority teacher recruitment and retention issues.
- Fulfill faculty responsibilities by advising forgivable loan recipients, engaging in scholarly and professional development activities, and performing university and community service assignments from the Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs.
- Conduct annual performance evaluations of the program and its personnel, and submit results to the appropriate University and State offices.
- Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field.
- Master of Education and three years of experience.
