Cleaning Services, Facility Maintenance
Overview
Custodial Staff are responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly school environment. This role involves performing cleaning duties, managing supplies, and ensuring that facilities are ready for daily operations and special events.
Responsibilities- Clean and sanitize classrooms, restrooms, hallways, and other school facilities.
- Set up and break down for school events and activities.
- Monitor and maintain inventory of cleaning supplies.
- Report maintenance issues and safety hazards to the School Operations Administrator.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Assist in the movement of furniture and equipment as needed.
- Perform groundskeeping tasks, including trash removal and landscaping.
- Respond to emergency cleaning situations promptly.
- Any other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous custodial or janitorial experience preferred.
- Knowledge of cleaning techniques and safety procedures.
- Ability to lift and move heavy objects.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate effectively; sit, stand, walk, and use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Heavier items must be lifted and/or moved with assistance or mechanical support in compliance with OSHA and safety standards.

This position operates in a professional school environment. The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and instructional materials. Noise level is typically moderate but can be higher during student-centered activities or events. Occasional local travel for school-related functions may be required.
FLSA ClassificationThis position is classified as Non-Exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and is in accordance with applicable federal and South Carolina labor laws.
