American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Newborn Nursery position requiring Level 1 & 2 nursery experience and NRP certification for a night shift contract at an acute care hospital in Orangeburg, SC.
Requirements- Active SC RN license or Compact/Multi-State RN license required; must be in hand prior to start
- Required certifications (AHA): BLS and NRP
- STABLE certification highly preferred
- Minimum 2 years of nursery RN experience required
- Level 1 and Level 2 nursery setting experience required
- Must be comfortable managing patients from delivery through discharge
- Charge nurse experience preferred
- SSN and Driver's License required for consideration
- 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration
- Work in the Newborn Nursery unit of a 286-bed acute care hospital
- Level III Trauma Center
- Newborn patient population covering delivery through discharge, including Level 1 and Level 2 nursery care
- Level 2 cases may include phototherapy, IV antibiotics, opioid withdrawal, and bubble CPAP
- Patient ratio of 1:6
- Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- Every other weekend required
- No on‑call requirement, though this may change based on unit needs
- Floating within the women's area of the facility may be required
- Charting via Epic
- First‑time travelers are not accepted for this position
- Candidates must reside more than 60 miles from the facility to qualify for the standard travel rate; local candidates within 60 miles may be considered on a case‑by‑case basis
- Previous permanent or PRN staff at any MUSC location must have been separated from the system for at least 1 year before being eligible to work as a traveler
- All requested time off (RTO) must be disclosed at the time of consideration; approval is based on facility needs
- Orientation modules are completed prior to the assignment start date
- Travelers should be aware that during hurricane season (June–November), all employees and contractors may be assigned to emergency response teams; peak activity months are August and September
- Royal blue scrubs required
