Travel RN - Mother Baby - Newborn Nursery

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Newborn Nursery position requiring Level 1 & 2 nursery experience and NRP certification for a night shift contract at an acute care hospital in Orangeburg, SC.

• Active SC RN license or Compact/Multi-State RN license required; must be in hand prior to start
• Required certifications (AHA): BLS and NRP
• STABLE certification highly preferred
• Minimum 2 years of nursery RN experience required
• Level 1 and Level 2 nursery setting experience required
• Must be comfortable managing patients from delivery through discharge
• Charge nurse experience preferred
• SSN and Driver's License required for consideration
• 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration

• Work in the Newborn Nursery unit of a 286-bed acute care hospital
• Level III Trauma Center
• Newborn patient population covering delivery through discharge, including Level 1 and Level 2 nursery care
• Level 2 cases may include phototherapy, IV antibiotics, opioid withdrawal, and bubble CPAP
• Patient ratio of 1:6
• Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• Every other weekend required
• No on‑call requirement, though this may change based on unit needs
• Floating within the women's area of the facility may be required
• Charting via Epic
• First‑time travelers are not accepted for this position
• Candidates must reside more than 60 miles from the facility to qualify for the standard travel rate; local candidates within 60 miles may be considered on a case‑by‑case basis
• Previous permanent or PRN staff at any MUSC location must have been separated from the system for at least 1 year before being eligible to work as a traveler
• All requested time off (RTO) must be disclosed at the time of consideration; approval is based on facility needs
• Orientation modules are completed prior to the assignment start date
• Travelers should be aware that during hurricane season (June–November), all employees and contractors may be assigned to emergency response teams; peak activity months are August and September
• Royal blue scrubs required
