Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)

Location:

Edisto Post‑Acute, 113‑bed skilled nursing & rehab facility, Orangeburg, South Carolina.

• $16–$20 per hour
• 12‑hour shifts, weekdays 7:00 AM–7:00 PM

• Active South Carolina CNA certification
• Ability to work 12‑hour shifts
• CPR certification is preferred

• Minimum 10th‑grade education
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
• Basic mathematics skills (fractions, percentages, ratios, proportions)
• Problem‑solving ability and ability to interpret written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule instructions

• Occasional lifting or moving up to 25 pounds
• Requirements for sitting, standing, walking, speaking, hearing, reading, and using a computer and office equipment
• Assist in evacuation of residents during emergencies if needed
• Prolonged computer use acceptable

• Low to moderate noise level
• Work performed in a skilled nursing & rehab facility setting

• Identify residents using wristband or photo card before administering treatments or serving meals
• Use authorized abbreviations when recording information
• Report changes in resident condition to Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse promptly
• Record all entries on flow sheets, notes, charts, etc. in an informative, descriptive manner
• Report all observed accidents and incidents during the shift
• Maintain confidentiality of resident health information and report suspected violations of disclosure policies
• Report any unauthorized attempt to access the facility’s information system, and any reported occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, or hazardous chemicals
• Perform only those nursing care procedures for which you are trained
• Prepare residents’ rooms for receipt, including bed making, name tags, and admission kit availability
• Greet residents, escort them to their rooms, and introduce them to roommates and other residents or personnel as appropriate
• Make residents comfortable and establish a warm, positive, and calm environment throughout the unit and shift
• Assist residents with packing personal possessions, moving between rooms, and loading/unloading vehicles
• Maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest and positive emphasis
• Meet with nursing personnel to identify and correct problem areas and improve services
• Report complaints and grievances made by residents
• Participate in and receive nursing reports as instructed
• Follow established policies concerning exposure to blood/body fluids
• Make beds and put extra covers on beds as requested
• Measure and record temperatures, pulses, and respirations (TPRs) and weigh/count residents as instructed
• Check residents who cannot call for help frequently and answer call prompts promptly
• Keep residents’ water pitchers clean and filled with fresh water within easy reach
• Perform after‑meal care (remove trays, clean hands, face, clothing, etc.)
• Work according to work assignments and schedules
• Cooperate with inter‑departmental and facility personnel to maintain nursing services
• Notify the facility of any late arrival or absence
• Assist residents with daily functions (dental and mouth care, bathing, combing hair, dressing, undressing)
• Keep residents dry by changing gowns, clothing, and linens as needed
• Assist residents in preparing for medical tests, mobilizing them, and transporting them between beds, chairs, tubs, wheelchairs, lifts, etc.
• Perform restorative and rehabilitative procedures as instructed
• Assist in preparing a resident for physical examinations
• Check each resident routinely to ensure their personal care needs are met
• Observe and report pressure areas and skin breakdowns to prevent decubitus ulcers
• Report injuries of unknown source, including skin tears
• Observe disoriented and comatose residents, record and report data as instructed
