Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Endoscopy RN with 2+ years of GI/Endoscopy experience and an active SC or compact RN license for a role requiring weekend and on-call coverage.

Details
  • Acute care hospital setting within the Endoscopy department
  • 1:1 patient ratio
  • 5x8-hour day shifts scheduled from 6:00am to 2:30pm
  • No floating required between units or sister facilities
  • Weekend rotation required approximately every third weekend
  • On-call responsibilities required approximately every third weekend from Friday 3:00pm to Monday 6:00am, as well as some weekday call after 3:00pm, shared among the traveler and two full-time RNs
  • Uses Epic for charting
Requirements
  • Active SC RN license or compact RN license required in hand prior to start
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required (AHA only)
  • Minimum 2 years of Endoscopy experience required
  • Previous travel experience preferred, with a preference for experienced Endo RN travelers
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Skilled in administering and monitoring conscious sedation and managing dysrhythmias
  • Experience with procedures such as Bronchoscopy, Colonoscopy, EGD, ERCP, and esophageal varices/banding
  • Experience with equipment including electrosurgical units, forceps, dilators, and polyp snares
  • Skilled in IV starts, medication administration, and 12-lead EKG/ECG
  • Driver's license and SSN required for consideration
Additional Information
  • Responsibilities include pre- and post-procedure patient care, airway management, and recovery from conscious and monitored anesthesia sedation
  • May assist with circulating and scrubbing duties for GI/Endoscopy procedures
  • Navy blue scrubs required
  • Must reside within 30 minutes of the facility to respond to call as needed
  • Local candidates within a 60-mile radius may be considered on a case-by-case basis at a reduced rate, with non-local candidates prioritized
  • Previous MUSC perm or PRN staff must be separated from the health system for at least one year before returning as a traveler
  • All requested time off must be submitted at the time of application for consideration
  • Facility may cancel up to one shift every two weeks
  • During hurricane season (June through November), staff may be assigned to emergency response teams
  • First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
