Position: Communication Instructor - Spanish-Language/Bilingual [Faculty Part-Time Application Pool]
Clackamas Community College (CCC) seeks to hire part-time Communication Instructor - Spanish-Language/Bilingual faculty for available assignments during the academic year. The communication department offers English, Spanish and Bilingual courses. Due to growing demands from our community we are specifically searching to expand our Spanish and Bilingual offerings. This position would primarily teach these Spanish and Bilingual courses.

Essential Job Functions:

* Instructs students in a classroom. Provides student contact before and after class and by telephone, video conferencing, scheduled meetings or email exchanges during office hours where facilities and schedules permit.

* Prepares, distributes and utilizes instructional support materials, include course syllabi, supplementary materials, instructional media and other devices as appropriate; incorporates the latest classroom technology when available and appropriate to instructional activities.

* Structures classes and curriculum to correspond with the overall program objectives; prepares clear objectives for students for each course.

* Understands, develops and provides a learning environment that supports diversity and incorporates sensitivity to diversity within the college community.

* Responsible for classroom and departmental equipment and provides for the security of facilities and instructional materials as appropriate.

* Understands and abides by college policies and regulations and other policies, procedures and materials as required by the college, departments or divisions.

* Convenes classes on time and as scheduled.

* Maintains evaluation and grading records for assigned students; enters grades and provides all necessary documentation for in completes within established college timelines and guidelines.

* Ensures and emphasizes safe working and classroom conditions and practices.

* May direct aides and work study students as assigned.

* Understands and uses the college's computer system.

Auxiliary

Job Functions:

* May provide assistance to other department personnel as workload and staffing levels dictate.

* Maintain work areas in a clean and orderly manner.

Minimum Requirements:

* Master's degree in Communications or related field. Appropriate related fields could include Spanish Language, ESOL or similar disciplines.

* English/Spanish Bilingual fluency.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Demonstrated experience with online learning systems.

* Demonstrated experience teaching students of diverse backgrounds.

* Demonstrable experience providing culturally responsive instruction.

* Bicultural/multicultural skills sufficient to select appropriate behaviors, values and attitudes within different cultures during interactions with others.

* Demonstrates ability or desire to work with students and communities with cultural, linguistic, economic, educational and nuero diversity.

* Demonstrates ability or desire to understand educational systems, to engage in the life of the College, and to impart positive change

Physical Requirements Light Work:
Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Even though weight lifted may be negligible, it may be rated light work if frequent walking and/or standing is required.
