Position: English Instructor, Composition (Part-Time Faculty Pool)
Clackamas Community College (CCC) seeks to hire an English Instructor, Composition (Part-Time) position. This is a term-by-term, union, exempt, and non benefits-eligible position.

This is a part-time faculty pool for available assignments during the academic year. Applications are considered throughout the academic year  and reviewed based on department need. Essential Job Functions

* Instruct students in a classroom, lab, or other setting as appropriate.

* Provide student support through office hours and virtual options (phone, email, Zoom, etc.).

* Prepare, distribute, and utilize instructional support materials, including course syllabi, supplementary materials, instructional media, and technology as appropriate.

* Structure classes and curriculum to correspond with the approved course and program learning outcomes, course content outlines, and formative and summative assessments.

* Understand and abide by policies and procedures as required by the college, division, or department.

* Convene classes on time and as scheduled.

* Maintain evaluation and grading records for assigned students; enter grades and provide all necessary documentation for In completes within established college timelines and guidelines.

* Understand and use the college's digital system using a college issued device.

* Recognize that many students have had discouraging experiences with writing education and work to change the mindset of "being a 'bad writer'" and the expectation of what it means to be a "good writer";

* Create authentic learning situations, both in-person and online, where students and teachers collaborate in the construction of meaningful educational experiences, and offer frequent opportunities for iterative learning based on interaction and responsive, respectful feedback;

* Demonstrate to students that they belong and are valued;

* Actively adapt or transform our materials and pedagogies to be anti-racist and to promote a learning environment in which all students can thrive;

* Using high-quality materials, instructors' freedom to choose them, and students' ability to access and afford them;

* Continually improve our teaching and keep up on developments in pedagogy and our personal fields of interest;

* Serve students across the college, including students seeking transfer degrees, CTE certificates or enrichment, who are recent high school graduates, first-generation students, and returning adult learners.

Minimum Requirements

* Master's degree in English or Composition/Rhetoric, MFA in Creative Writing, or master's degree in related field with a minimum of 30 graduate credit hours in the subject to be taught.

* The ability to communicate effectively as a teacher and to operate as an effective member of a department team.

Preferred Qualifications

* Ability to support students in both Spanish and English highly desired.

* Previous teaching experience in a related field.
