Position: Mathematics Instructor [Part-Time Faculty Pool]
Clackamas Community College (CCC) seeks to hire a Mathematics Instructor (Part-Time) position. This is a term-by-term, union, exempt, and non or benefits-eligible position. We are interested in finding the best candidate for the job, and candidates that may be from a less traditional background. This is a faculty pool posting for various programs that may arise during the academic year. Applications are considered throughout the academic year and reviewed based on department need. Minimum Requirements

* Bachelor's degree in any subject, with college transcripted Calculus I and II or Statistics.

* The ability to communicate effectively as a teacher and to operate as an effective member of a team.

College-level Math Courses

* Bachelor's degree in mathematics or related field with coursework in Calculus or Statistics or an Advanced Math High School endorsement is required.

Calculus and Higher-Level Math Courses

* Bachelor's degree in mathematics or related field with 18 graduate quarter hours (12 semester credit hours) in mathematics or mathematics education is required.

Preferred Qualifications

* Ability to support students in both Spanish and English highly desired.

* Previous teaching experience in a related field.

* Demonstrate ability or desire to work with students and communities with cultural, linguistic, economic, educational and neuro-diversity

* Seek greater familiarity with the movement around quantitative literacy and are energized by this way of understanding the kind of numeracy every citizen needs

* Have the ability to implement open education resources (OER)

* Value outcomes assessment and educational research as vehicles to make decisions and improve instruction

* Recognize that math education is changing and how this impacts our shared goal of serving students.

* Recognize that math education has not been a growth experience for many students

* Value active learning and student-centered teaching approaches that support conceptual understanding; how we teach is part of improving equity

* Demonstrate to students that they belong and are valued

Essential Job Functions

* Instruct students in a classroom, lab, or other setting as appropriate.

* Provide student support through office hours and virtual options (phone, email, zoom, etc.).

* Prepare, distribute, and utilize instructional support materials, including course syllabi, supplementary materials, instructional media, and technology as appropriate. Current technology may include Desmos, ChatGPT, Moodle, My Open Math , Spreadsheets, and digital discussion/engagement platforms.

* Structure classes and curriculum to correspond with the approved course and program learning outcomes, course content outlines, and summative assessments.

* Understand and abide by policies and procedures as required by the college, division, or department.

* Convene classes on time and as scheduled.

* Maintain evaluation and grading records for assigned students; enters grades and provides all necessary documentation for in completes within established college…
