Clackamas Community College (CCC) seeks to hire a Physics Instructor (Part-Time Faculty) position. This is a part-time, union, exempt, term-by-term, and non benefits-eligible position. We are interested in finding the best candidate for the job, and candidates that may be from a less traditional background. This is a part-time faculty pool for available assignments during the academic year. Applications are considered throughout the academic year and reviewed based on department need. Minimum/Mandatory
Education and Experience Requirements
* Master's degree in physics or related field, with a minimum of 30 graduate credit hours in the primary subject to be taught.
* The ability to communicate effectively as a teacher and to operate as an effective member of a team.
* Must be able to work respectfully with individuals of all cultures, backgrounds, perspectives and abilities.
* Ability to exemplify traits that reflect the College's culture, including integrity, a customer service orientation, cultural competency, trustworthiness, flexibility and a willingness to change.
The physical demands listed below represent those that must be met by an incumbent to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with qualified disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, bend, kneel, stoop, communicate, reach, and manipulate objects. The position requires mobility, including the use of step stools in order to retrieve archived materials. Duties may involve moving materials weighing up to 25 pounds on a regular basis such as papers, files, boxes, equipment, computers, etc.,
and rarely requires moving materials weighing over 25 pounds. Manual dexterity and coordination are required over 50% of the work period while operating equipment such as computer keyboard, monitor, projector, calculator, printer, and standard office equipment.
Working Conditions
Work environment includes classroom, lab, or other setting as appropriate. Typical lab environment with exposure to odors, heat sources, and potentially hazardous chemicals and pathogenic microorganisms. Work location may be subject to minimal chemical exposure. All faculty are asked to complete lab safety training. The noise level in the work area is typical of similar environments with personal interruptions and background noises.
