Skills Development Instructor
Clackamas Community College (CCC) seeks to hire a Skills Development Instructor position. This is a part-time, faculty, term-by-term, union, exempt, and non-benefits eligible position.
This is a part-time faculty pool posting for available assignments during the academic year. Applications are considered throughout the academic year and reviewed based on department need. The College and the Department
Clackamas Community College has a long-standing history of collective decision-making and does so with a central goal in mind – students must come first. Clackamas is a comprehensive community college in the Portland metro area that provides transfer degree programs, career programs, community education classes, developmental education, and training programs for business and industry. The Skills Development department focuses on the needs of students who are entering the Adult Basic Education (ABE), GED, Adult High School Diploma (AHSD), and developmental education classes.
This department resides in the Academic Foundations and Connections Division, working with all of student services, Counseling, the Library, English as a Second Language, English, and Math to provide learners with essential skills for daily life, the workplace, their community, and further education. This position will provide leadership focused on our ABE, GED, and AHSD programs. The successful candidate will be an innovative, collaborative, and participatory faculty member – and one who brings a passion for teaching and a desire to support and mentor CCC students.
Additionally, we are seeking a person who may have experience in Title II grant requirements, Adult Basic Skills Learning Standards, and alternative education Full-time faculty at CCC are also expected to provide mentorship for part-time faculty. This position will have evening responsibilities.
Essential Job Functions:
- Regular participation in department, division, and college meetings and committees.
- Review and evaluate student progress.
- Program assessment.
- Compile and interpret data for routine reports.
- Engagement in activities that enhance the department's rapport with area high schools, industry partners, and/or workforce partners, as well as serve as a liaison to outreach sites.
- Assist in revision and development of courses, curriculum, and media.
- Participate in staff development, community service projects, and/or conferences.
- Develop and assess curriculum aligned with the Oregon Learning Standards.
- Active participation in professional organizations.
Auxiliary
Job Functions:
- May provide assistance to other department personnel as workload and staffing levels dictate.
- Maintain work areas in a clean and orderly manner.
- Additional responsibilities may include coordinating outreach, participating in WIOA boards and partner organizations, and serving as department chair.
