Hourly Pay Range: $48,540.494 – $61,318.565

Effective July 1, 2026 Annual Pay Range: $ – $
Hourly Pay Range: $49,851.087 – $62,974.166

Salary offers will be within the posted pay range and based on candidate’s experience.

Responsibilities

Lead the work of Land Surveyors and Survey Technicians, overseeing, tracking, and assigning projects. Serve as a technical resource for staff. Review, approve, sign, and seal survey documents prepared by the engineering survey team, and review and approve documents prepared by private surveyors working on County capital projects. Develop, establish, and implement surveying standards within the office.

Required

Minimum Qualifications
  • Valid and active registration as a Professional Land Surveyor in any U.S. state at time of hire.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of professional land surveying experience.
  • Experience leading the work of others, including daily work direction, scheduling, assigning work, checking completed work, and providing training.
  • Experience conducting research and preparing drawings, maps, legal descriptions, and survey‑related documents.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience reviewing and approving legal descriptions and construction surveys.
  • Proficiency with modern survey technologies such as GNSS, LiDAR, electronic data collectors, and CAD/design software.
  • Experience leading transportation survey projects.
  • Experience performing or reviewing surveys related to transportation infrastructure, including roads, bridges, right‑of‑way resolution, and construction staking.

Pre‑Employment Requirements
  • Must pass a post‑offer physical assessment (accommodation requests reviewed as required by law).
  • Driving required for County business on a regular basis; must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain an acceptable driving record.
Post‑Employment Requirements
  • Within six months of hire, become registered as a Professional Surveyor in the State of Oregon and maintain a valid and active license for the duration of employment.
Work Schedule

This position is part of the alternate workweek program: 40 hours during a standard workweek of Monday through Thursday (Fridays off). Specific hours to be discussed with the selected candidate. The position is eligible for hybrid on‑site/telework, based on department needs; telework locations cannot be outside Oregon or Washington. Washington residents must perform 50% of time on‑site.

Work Environment

Occasional duties in the field require walking, twisting, balancing, and involve exposure to inclement weather, noise, and slippery/uneven terrain.
