Maps Credit Union

Maps seeks a Commercial Credit Underwriter and Portfolio Manager who contributes to the financial stability of the Credit Union by evaluating commercial lending opportunities, analyzing borrower financial performance, assessing credit risk, and managing an assigned portfolio of commercial lending relationships. This position serves as a key partner to Commercial Relationship Managers by providing sound underwriting, ongoing portfolio monitoring, risk assessment, and credit administration support to ensure loan quality and portfolio performance.

Functions
  • Follow regulatory and policy compliance requirements, which include those efforts in compliance with Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Regulations, Identity Theft Red Flags and other compliance-related policies.
  • Credit Underwriting and Analysis
  • Analyze commercial loan requests, including commercial real estate, owner-occupied real estate, construction, equipment, lines of credit, and business acquisition financing.
  • Perform detailed financial statement analysis, cash flow analysis, collateral valuation review, and debt service capacity assessments.
  • Evaluate borrower and guarantor financial strength, industry trends, management expertise, and repayment sources.
  • Spread and analyze business and personal financial statements, tax returns, and interim financial reports.
  • Conduct sensitivity analyses and stress testing when appropriate.
  • Identify key credit risks and mitigating factors.
  • Assess compliance with lending policies, regulatory requirements, and underwriting standards.
  • Prepare comprehensive credit memorandums and loan presentations for approval committees and loan officers.
  • Recommend credit structures, loan covenants, collateral requirements, and risk ratings.
  • Portfolio Management
  • Manage an assigned portfolio of commercial lending relationships to ensure ongoing credit quality.
  • Monitor borrower performance through financial statement reviews, covenant tracking, and risk assessments.
  • Maintain accurate loan risk ratings and recommend changes when warranted.
  • Complete annual relationship reviews and credit renewals.
  • Monitor portfolio concentrations and emerging industry risks.
  • Track maturing loans and lines of credit and coordinate renewal activities.
  • Identify adverse credit trends and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
  • Participate in problem loan identification, workout strategies, and remediation efforts.
  • Ensure timely collection and review of required financial reporting from borrowers.
  • Knowledgeable about and complies with all relevant Credit Union regulations, policies, and procedures. Assists with developing and maintaining commercial lending procedures and reporting activities.
  • Requirements KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

    REQUIRED:
    • Strong analytical, time management, and organizational skills and the capacity to integrate diverse objectives with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
    • Strong understanding of financial statement analysis and cash flow modeling.
    • Knowledge of commercial lending structures and repayment sources.
    • Ability to analyze complex commercial credit relationships.
    • Understanding of commercial real estate valuation and collateral evaluation.
    • Familiarity with loan risk-rating methodologies.
    • Proficiency in financial spreading software and loan origination systems.
    • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
    • Ability to prepare professional credit presentations and reports
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to present credit recommendations clearly and confidently.
    • Ability to build effective working relationships with lenders, credit administration staff, and senior management.
    • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
