Children’s Center is a private, nonprofit Children’s Advocacy Center accredited by the National Children’s Alliance, working with the Clackamas County community to end child abuse and neglect through assessment, treatment, and prevention. Our vision is to build a world where all children feel safe, valued, and heard. At Children’s Center, WE CARE—for the children and families we serve, for ourselves, for each other, and for our community.
Children’s Center provides compassionate, trauma‑centered care to children and families experiencing suspected physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional abuse, and neglect, including drug endangerment and exposure to violence. We meet our mission by providing comprehensive Assessments that include medical examinations, forensic interviews and family support services. Our therapy team provides Trauma‑Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF‑CBT) to children who have experienced the trauma of abuse and neglect, and our prevention program delivers community‑based outreach and education designed to prevent abuse and strengthen protective factors across the community.
OrganizationalContext
The Children’s Center is a place where collaboration is genuine, relationships matter, and the team consistently rises to meet challenges with professionalism and heart. We are proud of the culture we’ve built—one with a shared purpose, and a belief in the importance of our work. Though the Children’s Center has navigated leadership transitions and budget constraints that have required adaptability, creativity, and resilience, our dedicated staff have remained deeply committed to our mission and to one another while delivering critical, high‑impact services to children and families.
We are at an important moment of transition and opportunity like many mission‑driven organizations in today’s nonprofit landscape. The Children’s Center is focused on strengthening internal systems, leadership capacity, and external partnerships. This includes continued investment in fundraising infrastructure, financial stewardship, and collaborative relationships with funders, agency partners, and the broader community. Fundraising leadership is a strategic priority to ensure stability, rebuild operating reserves over time, and support staff delivering essential services.
The next Executive Director will guide the Children’s Center through this period of transition, partnering closely in collaboration with the Board of Directors to ensure stability, accountability, and long‑term sustainability. The Board is committed to supporting a leader who brings steadiness, transparency, and disciplined leadership to this work.
