Overview

A Kroger Bakery Clerk creates an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service while encouraging other associates to do the same. As a Bakery team member, you will establish and maintain a safe and clean environment that encourages our customers to return. You will assist the department manager in reaching sales and profit goals and monitor all established quality assurance standards. Most importantly, demonstrate Kroger’s core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety.

What

You’ll Do
  • Prepare items per customer requests using proper bakery equipment.
  • Offer product samples to help customers discover new items or products they inquire about.
  • Inform customers of bakery specials.
  • Provide customers with fresh products that they have ordered and correct portion size to prevent shrink.
  • Recommend bakery items to customers to ensure they get the products they want and need.
  • Use all equipment in the bakery (refrigerators, freezers, ovens) according to company guidelines.
  • Prepare foods according to food safety and temperature logs and follow cooking/baking instructions.
  • Measure, prepare and mix ingredients according to recipes using appropriate utensils and equipment.
  • Adequately prepare, package, label and inventory ingredients and merchandise.
  • Check product quality to ensure freshness; review and act on "sell by" dates.
  • Properly use kitchen equipment (stove, computerized scale, fryer, steamer, etc.).
  • Label, stock and inventory department merchandise.
  • Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
  • Understand the store layout and help customers locate products.
  • Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads.
  • Gain knowledge of products sold within the department and respond to questions with recommendations.
  • Maintain awareness of inventory/stocking conditions and note discrepancies.
  • Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers are maintained and temperature logs are kept.
  • Promote trust and respect among associates; create an environment where customers feel welcome and appreciated by answering questions about products.
  • Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines; comply with safety procedures and report unsafe conditions.
  • Display a positive attitude and practice preventive equipment maintenance; notify management of repairs needed.
  • Notify management of customer or employee accidents and report safety risks or illegal activity when observed.
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.
