Scope of Position

The Development Coordinator facilitates interdepartmental teamwork and reports to the Executive Director of Development (EOD) of the Cascade Division. It coordinates with Major Gifts, Donor Management, Planned Giving, and Foundations, providing reporting of objectives and measurable results.

Education and Work Experience
  • High School or GED required; some college preferred.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of administrative support to leadership positions.
  • Background or related education in a nonprofit development environment.
  • Experience with Word for Windows, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and other business applications; database experience preferred.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • White Mail – Divisional Headquarters Checks/Cash Receipts Processor: receives checks/cash daily, prepares and logs donor receipts, scans receipt logs, and handles receipting and mailing.
  • Assists Director of Direct Mail with database information.
  • Serves as key contact for Major Donors on behalf of the Donor Relations Director.
  • Supports department engagement by coordinating meetings, team events, and workplace celebrations.
  • Tracks annual programs and presents funding opportunities and needs to Directors.
  • Generates and maintains the financial development database.
  • Researches local publications and websites for potential donors.
  • Interfaces with Salvation Army staff via telephone, email, and in-person communication; maintains confidentiality.
Physical Conditions

Essential duties require sitting for long periods and ability to lift up to 10 pounds for short distances, with standard senses and finger dexterity.

Environmental Conditions

Open office environment with interruptions and noise from phones, printers, copiers, and walk-in traffic. Time off may be limited between November 1 and December 25.

The chosen candidate must pass a criminal history check. Convictions will be considered with circumstances.
