Beef Northwest Summer Internship

Beef Northwest offers summer internships each year at all feed yard locations. The purpose of the internship is to teach students the key elements to the successful operation of a feed yard. Ultimately, this will help Beef Northwest determine if you are a strong candidate for its Manager in Training Program post-graduation.

Job Duties:

• Two weeks working in the following departments:
  Cattle, Hospital, Feed Mill, Feeding, Maintenance and Management
• You will have specific learning objectives you will need to learn the answers to in each department.
• You will keep a journal every day of your activities and things you learned.
• You will be preparing a SWOT analysis for each department for your final Internship presentation.
• You will be working on one to three projects. Those projects will include scope, benefit, drawbacks, financial analysis and your final recommendation.
• You will visit multiple BNW sites and operations.
• You will visit industry partners.
• You will be exposed to all aspects of the business in one way or another.
• At the end of your Internship you will deliver a presentation of your summer experience and projects to the Executive Leadership team, Managers and staff at multiple locations.

Requirements

• Strong desire to work in the Cattle and/or Feed Lot Industry post-graduation.
• Strong work ethic and a positive can-do attitude.
• Ability to use Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Gmail.
• Access to a horse and ability to ride for at least two weeks. (In certain cases, we may be able to provide you a horse).
• Good sense of humor
• 2.5 GPA or higher
