The Program Manager
- Programming supports the Executive Director in delivering high-quality artistic and cultural programming at the Josephy Center for Arts & Culture (JCAC). This position is the primary point of contact for artists, instructors, and community partners, and is responsible for coordinating exhibitions, classes, events, and the Wallowa Valley Festival of Arts and the Youth Arts Festival from planning through execution.

Position Details

Part-time, non-exempt | 30 hours per week | $24-$28 per hour, depending on experience.

Primary Responsibilities Exhibition & Curatorial Coordination
  • Coordinate exhibitions 12-18 months out in alignment with JCAC's mission and program calendar.
  • Serve as primary point of contact for exhibiting artists and curators.
  • Issue exhibit invitations, agreements, and loan forms; collect bios, artist statements, headshots, and inventory lists.
  • Coordinate artwork shipping, delivery schedules, installation logistics, and deinstallation.
  • Oversee install week: condition checks, title card preparation, signage, lighting, and photography.
  • Plan and coordinate opening receptions, including speaking points, recruiting musical talent, refreshments, artist talks, and volunteers.
  • Process artwork sales, notify artists, and maintain accurate inventory records.
  • Ensure exhibitions reflect cultural respect and historical awareness, particularly in Nez Perce-centered programming.
Classes & Education Programming
  • Identify, recruit, and schedule instructors and teaching artists for youth and adult classes and workshops.
  • Manage instructor onboarding: contracts, payment information, bios, class descriptions, and supply lists.
  • Set class pricing, capacity, and revenue splits in coordination with the Executive Director.
  • Create and maintain class listings on the website and registration platforms.
  • Monitor class sign-ups and communicate reminders and updates to enrolled students.
  • Coordinate day-of logistics: room setup, supply readiness, rosters, and photography.
  • Conduct post-class follow-up: instructor payment, attendance records, student feedback, and evaluation.
  • Build and strengthen arts education partnerships with schools, youth organizations, and community groups.
Events & Festival Coordination
  • Support planning and execution of special events, festivals, and community programs.
  • Develop event timelines, run-of-show documents, and volunteer need overviews.
  • Coordinate logistics including permits (OLCC when applicable), vendors, signage, sound, and supplies.
  • Represent JCAC at public events, receptions, and community functions.
  • Conduct post-event debrief, financial tracking, thank-you outreach, and notes for future planning.
Artist, Instructor & Community Relations
  • Maintain ongoing relationships with regional artists, instructors, Tribal partners, and cultural organizations.
  • Attend local and regional arts events to cultivate new partnerships and identify programming opportunities.
  • Build and nurture relationships with Nez Perce artists and cultural leaders in support of JCAC’s Indigenous programming mission.
  • Maintain accurate artist and instructor contact records in Bloomerang.
  • Share opportunities, calls to artists, and relevant resources with the JCAC artist community.
Budget & Reporting Support
  • Track program income and expenses for exhibits, classes, and events.
  • Maintain budget spreadsheets and program records.
  • Assist with grant narrative content and reporting related to programming.
  • Provide program metrics and attendance data for board and staff reports.
  • Submit regular staff reports to the Executive Director.
Team Collaboration
  • Work closely with the Program Coordinator
    - Production & Marketing to provide content, images, copy, and deadlines for all promotional materials.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director on program strategy, calendar planning, and community priorities.
  • Work with Program Committee on developing exhibits, programs and upcoming classes.
  • Support volunteer recruitment, orientation, and coordination for programming events.
  • Maintain organized digital files using Google Workspace, Asana, and JCAC folder structures.
