The City of Sherwood is looking for an On Call Recreation Assistant!

This is an on-call, weekend position, with occasional weeknights and holidays.
Under general supervision, the Recreation Assistant will provide assistance to the Community Services Department and Field house recreation programs. May provide training and orientation to volunteers, students and newly assigned personnel on site policies and practices.
Essential DutiesProvide assistance to other staff as workload and staffing levels dictate. Maintain proficiency by attending training and meetings, reading materials, and meeting with others in areas of responsibility. Maintain work areas in a clean and orderly manner.
Knowledge ofGeneral knowledge of recreation programs and general office practices and procedures, English and business grammar, customer service, and use of standard office equipment.
Ability toInteract effectively with the public, including coaches, teams, players, parents, spectators, and other employees; function in a high energy environment and provide quality customer service to clients of all Recreation Division programs; conduct all games, matches, and activities according to prescribed rules and regulations.
Education and ExperienceAny combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying; typical education would include a high school diploma or equivalent, or current enrollment as a student; and some experience or program specific knowledge in the assigned activity.
Special Requirement/LicenseValid Oregon Driver's License.

Qualifications:
- Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications and software utilized within the assigned department.
- Bilingual in Spanish.
- Previous experience working directly with the public and/or in municipal recreation programs.
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, bend, kneel, stoop, communicate, reach and manipulate objects. The position requires mobility. Duties involve moving materials weighing up to 10 pounds on a regular basis such as files, books, office equipment, etc., and may infrequently require moving materials weighing up to 25 pounds. Manual dexterity and coordination are required over 50% of the work period while operating equipment such as computer keyboard, calculator, and standard office equipment.
WorkingConditions
Usual office working conditions. The noise level in the work area is typical of most office environments with telephones, personal interruptions, and background noises. Work schedule includes evening and weekend shifts and availability on short notice.
