Position Summary

Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital is recruiting for a Canadian Royal College certified General Pathologist, or board certified anatomic and clinical pathologist (AP/CP), to join a three-person practice.

• General surgical pathology and cytology case sign out
• Clinical pathology case sign out (e.g. peripheral blood smears, bone marrow biopsies)
• Transfusion medicine and local laboratory oversight
• Opportunity for medical directorship of rural area labs

Autopsies are not currently performed at this site.

• Recent clinical pathology experience
• Strong skills in surgical pathology and laboratory diagnostics, including transfusion medicine and hematopathology
• Comfortable with independent practice in a small group environment
• Participation in daily quality assurance video conference with other Interior Health pathologists
• Intramural or extramural consultation for challenging or unusual cases readily available, including outside consultation at academic medical centre sites in Vancouver
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with ability to relate well with laboratory staff, clinicians and administration

• Compensation Type:
  Clinical Service Contract
• Estimated Gross Income:
  Upper end of provincially negotiated grid; approximately $385,000 for 210 days of clinical service (Physician Overhead: No overhead cost)

  • Relocation Funding: $9,000–$15,000 (based on move location)

  • CME:
    Up to $2 years $600; in 3rd & 4th year $3,600; over 4 years $6,600. (Rural incentives subject to change and confirmed at time of offer)
