GENERAL DUTIESPhysical education is an academic subject and, as such, demands the same education rigor as other core subjects. Physical education provides students with a planned, sequential, K‑12 standards‑based program of curricula and instruction designed to develop motor skills, knowledge and behaviors for active living, physical fitness, sportsmanship, self‑efficacy and emotional intelligence.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS- A valid State of Oregon Teaching License appropriate for the position
- A minimum of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
- The ability to follow oral and written instructions
- The ability to effectively work and communicate with students, parents, and school personnel from diverse cultures and/or backgrounds
- The ability to work harmoniously with others
- Proficient oral and written communication skills in English
- Proficient in the use of computer and Internet based applications, including but not limited to email and systems applications
- The ability to learn new automated systems as they are brought online by the District
- Possess and maintain a current CPR and First Aid card
- Demonstrate a strong command of the physical skills necessary to teach a variety of sports, games and activities
- Maintain integrity of confidential information relating to students, staff, or district patrons
- Cultivate and model a respectful working and learning environment
- Annually pass the District's required online training by the District's assigned due‑date
- Follow site and/or District protocol for reporting absences
- Maintain current licenses and/or certificates required for the position
- Utilize the District's electronic systems and applications related to the job
- Have a thorough understanding of the requirements related to national and state standards in physical education, and possibly District
- Develop and communicate course goals related to standards in physical education
- Use instructional strategies that will enable all students to meet the state benchmarks for physical education
- Engages students in learning by enabling all learners to participate through multiple modalities
- Utilize engaging and culturally relevant curriculum
- Organize instruction using learning objectives with clearly defined student outcomes
- Employ teaching strategies congruent with planned student outcomes
- Select teaching strategies emphasizing student involvement
- Monitor student learning and pace instruction accordingly
- Develop and maintain a safe and secure learning environment that promotes success, appropriate risk taking, positive self expression, and enjoyment
- High expectations for learning and behavior are evident
- Lesson plans and curriculum are aligned with current local, state, and national standards
- Instructional support materials are utilized to enhance the lesson
- Assessment is based on mastery of learning expectations which are aligned with local, state, and national standards and is communicated regularly with relevant stakeholders
- Teacher is collegial and interacts appropriately with staff, parents, students, and school volunteers while modeling personal behaviors of honesty, fairness, courtesy and consideration
- Teacher is a lifelong learner and advocate within the profession
- Promote lifelong physical activity and skillful movement
- Participate in ongoing development opportunities and establishes professional goals each year
- Participate as an integral contributing member of the overall school community
In 8‑hour workday, this job requires:

F – Frequently (2.5 – 5.5 hrs per day)
C – Continually (5.5 – 8 hrs per day)
