The Child Care Resource Network (CCRN) is seeking a Quality Improvement Specialist/Coach to join our team.

CCRN and Oregon Child Care Alliance (OCCA) partner to provide business‑based coaching and technical assistance to early learning educators in Jackson and Josephine Counties. The goal is to build collaborative relationships with early learning educators while assisting them to open or enhance the quality of their child care business.

Position Goal

Serve as Quality Improvement Specialist (QIS or coach) to child care providers with the purpose of improving provider knowledge and ability to deliver quality care and education programs. A coach’s role may include working with individuals or groups to offer technical assistance, training, and resources. Coaches may conduct pre‑post assessments of child care environments, teacher‑child interactions, or other quality indicators. Coaches may work with providers to develop a Quality Improvement Plan (QIP) to strengthen areas identified in the assessment and to support providers to implement their QIPs.

Duties

and Responsibilities
  • Complete all required training from Western Oregon University to qualify as a QIS.
  • Deliver coaching to child care providers with the goal of improving provider knowledge and ability to deliver quality care and education programs, including appropriate environments, activities, and teacher‑child interaction, among other areas. Coaching will be on‑site and may also be by phone, email, or other means. Coaching and technical assistance will be delivered in a supportive and collaborative manner built on the coach’s ability to establish a strong and positive relationship with the provider.
  • Deliver coaching services using a variety of strategies proven to be effective with adult learners.
  • Locate and deliver resources and present individual or group training, if appropriate, and ensure that information shared with providers is accurate, research‑based, and relevant.
  • Work effectively with providers to develop a QIP and support implementation.
  • Submit all required paperwork accurately and completely.
  • Represent Child Care Resource Network and raise awareness of indicators of quality child care, the importance of early childhood and school readiness, and other critical areas of the field.
  • Comply with ESD rules and policies.
  • Perform physical requirements unaided or with the assistance of reasonable accommodation.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Minimum Prerequisites
  • Valid Oregon Driver's License.
  • English proficiency.
  • Solid working knowledge of child care related programs and related community resources; child abuse reporting, and child care regulations and licensing.
  • Excellent self‑management skills and the ability to take initiative, work independently within established guidelines and with a diverse group of participants and partners.
  • Proficiency in the use of a variety of computer programs and the internet.
  • Knowledge of community resources within the service delivery area.
  • Positive, flexible attitude.
  • Demonstrated effective communication skills, teamwork, and professionalism.
  • Pass a background check and maintain enrollment in the Child Care Division Criminal History registry.
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Degree in early childhood or related field preferred.
  • Experience in providing early childhood training.
  • Mentoring and coaching experience preferred.
  • Bilingual preferred.

    258 days (annual year‑round calendar)

    Pay

    Southern Oregon ESD Classified Hourly Compensation

    Schedule:

    $19.96/hr – $23.90/hr for the 2025‑2026 school year.
