Assists teaching staff by performing instructional tasks with students in large groups, small groups, and one‑on‑one settings, record keeping, and supervision. Performs duties with moderate supervision.
General InformationPay Rate: $16.56 - $19.17 per hour
Hours/Days: 6 hours per day / 4 days per week

- Assist teachers in the planning and implementation of learning experiences of students enrolled in programs; confer with teachers to provide feedback on student progress.
- Prior experience in de‑escalation strategies and behavior management grounded in the brain state model.
- Assist the teacher in devising special strategies for reinforcing material or skills based on a sympathetic understanding of individual students, their needs, interests, and abilities.
- Provide ongoing support to students experiencing challenging behaviors.
- Must be able to assist in monitoring classroom management in accordance with the district’s discipline procedures, which may include the physical restraint, physical movement, lifting and carrying of students.
- Supervise students in and outside of the classroom with an understanding of and provision for a safe environment.
- Other duties as may be assigned.
- Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent or 1 to 2 years’ related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Prior successful experience working in a school setting or with children strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of Title I of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act.
- Must be physically able to regularly lift up to 50 pounds to meet the students’ needs.
