Summary:

The K-2 Special Education and MTSS Intervention Teacher supports the academic, behavioral, and social-emotional growth of students through specially designed instruction, intervention support, collaboration, and inclusive educational practices. This position works collaboratively with classroom teachers, specialists, para educators, and families to support students receiving special education services while also assisting with school wide systems aligned to MTSS, intervention, and student support services. Job Details:
* 180 day contract (7 hours/day, 5 days/week)
* Salary *
  • Base: $59,881 - $118,042
    * 5 Enrichment Days: $1,663.36 - $3,278.94

    Essential Functions:

    Instructional Delivery & Intervention
    * Provide specially designed instruction, intervention support, and inclusive educational services to meet the academic, behavioral, communication, developmental, and social-emotional needs of students.
    * Implement and support Tier 2 and Tier 3 literacy, math, behavioral, and social-emotional interventions aligned to student needs.
    * Provide instruction in individual, small-group, push-in, pull-out, and inclusive settings using developmentally appropriate instructional practices.
    * Utilize differentiated instruction, Universal Design for Learning (UDL), evidence-based practices, and student data to plan, deliver, monitor, and adjust instruction and interventions.
    * Teach and support students in developing communication, coping, problem-solving, and self-regulation skills. Classroom Management & Learning Environment
    * Establish and maintain a positive, safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment through relationship building, clear expectations, positive behavior supports, and support for student self-regulation and coping skills.
    * Organize instructional systems, schedules, materials, progress monitoring, and student supports to effectively meet student and program needs. Assessment, Compliance & Case Management
    * Recognize, assess, document, and monitor students' academic, behavioral, social-emotional, and developmental needs and progress to inform instructional decision-making and intervention planning.
    * Develop instructional goals, accommodations, interventions, and supports aligned to individual student needs and progress toward IEP and intervention goals.
    * Maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with district, state, and federal requirements. Collaboration & Team Leadership
    * Collaborate effectively with classroom teachers, specialists, para educators, instructional assistants, related service providers, administrators, and families to support student success across educational settings.
    * Lead the classroom team by establishing structured routines and clear expectations for para educators to support a predictable, positive learning environment for students.
    * Support, guide, and collaborate with para educators and instructional assistants providing intervention and instructional support to students.
    * Facilitate briefings with para educators to review schedules, discuss student progress, and adjust support strategies as needed.
    * Provide guidance, modeling, and collaboration to staff regarding evidence-based instructional, behavioral, intervention, and inclusive practices.
    * Problem solve as part of a collaborative team focused on supporting student growth and success.

    Qualifications:

    * Valid Washington State Teaching Certificate with Special Education endorsement required.
    * Early Childhood Special Education experience preferred.
    * Current WSP/FBI background and fingerprint clearance. Requirements:
    Professional Knowledge
    * Knowledge of child development, specially designed instruction, MTSS, intervention systems, and evidence-based instructional practices.
    * Knowledge of IDEA, IEP development and implementation, student accommodations/modifications, progress monitoring, diagnostic assessments, and special education compliance requirements.
    * Knowledge of and experience with state-mandated testing, progress monitoring, diagnostic assessments, and intervention systems. Skills & Abilities
    * Ability to develop, modify, scaffold, and adjust instruction and interventions to meet the individual learning and behavioral needs of students.
    * Ability to communicate learning targets, expectations, and student progress in an age-appropriate, supportive, and meaningful manner.
    * Ability to problem solve as part of a collaborative team focused on supporting the academic, behavioral, and social-emotional growth of students.
    * Demonstrated proficiency in written, oral, and digital communication skills.
