9-12 Special Education Teacher
Qualifications- Bachelor's or Master’s Degree in Special Education (or related field)
- Valid Oregon TSPC License with proper endorsements or ability to obtain prior to position start date.
- Strong knowledge of special education laws and best practices.
- Standards of moral character as required of all Oregon licensed educators (OAR )
- Experience managing IEPs and Behavior Support Plans
- Ability to manage individual student needs in multiple academic settings.
- Assess student achievement on an ongoing basis.
- Ability to direct paraprofessionals in a wide range of student ability levels.
- Strong communication skills.
- Participates in the determination of student eligibility for special education programs and assists in the development of the assessment summary.
- Explains assessment results to and develops corresponding recommendations for teachers and parents.
- Develops Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) with criterion-referenced present performance levels, measurable objectives and goals related to assessment results.
- Implements and revises the IEP for eligible students.
- Facilitates a variety of meetings including but not limited to staff trainings, eligibility meetings, and IEP meetings.
- Provides appropriate and specially designed instruction in academics, functional academics, communication skills, social skills, independent living skills, and/or behavior management and maintains regular (i.e. daily or weekly) data.
- Utilizes effective, positive, classroom and behavior management techniques.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including parents, teachers, and specialists.
- Provides consultation assistance as needed by building staff.
- Maintain accurate records in compliance with federal, state, and district guidelines.
- Practices confidentiality in the use of student information.
- Participates in staff development activities as offered.
- As per Certified Teachers Salary Schedule FY $48,.41
