Academic, High School, University Professor, Language Teacher
Location: Culver
Culver Academies places a premium on a teaching and learning culture in which faculty routinely talk about practice, observe each other in the practice of teaching, create curriculum together, and teach each other what they know about teaching and learning. Culver Academies uses a spoken Latin approach in a proficiency-oriented department, and a successful candidate would have an interest in collaborating with a colleague to emphasize a communicative and active approach to learning the Latin language and about Ancient Mediterranean cultures with inclusivity and equity.
Responsibilities include the ability to teach all levels of Latin language and culture from introductory to advanced topics in a 4 x 4 intensive block schedule. Instructors teach two eighty-minute blocks each day with an average class size of 15. While Culver is not a triple-threat boarding school, all faculty and staff commit to making a significant contribution to the athletic
or residential life program of the school, as personal interest and institutional needs dictate.
Qualified candidates will hold at least a BA in Latin or Classics, with several years of teaching experience at the secondary school level preferred.
