Job Description
Creswell School District is seeking a highly skilled Library Aide and EA College and Career Assistant for a 7‑hour per day position at Creswell High School for the 2026‑2027 school year.
Position OverviewThe unique dual‑role position combines maintaining the school library as a vibrant learning hub with guiding students through college and career planning. The successful candidate will create a welcoming, student‑centered environment that encourages reading, research, and exploration of post‑secondary opportunities, ensuring the library serves as both a sanctuary for learning and a launching pad for students’ futures.
Position DescriptionLibrary Operations
- Maintain and organize library collections, including books, digital resources, and multimedia materials
- Assist students and staff with research activities, book selection, and technology support
- Create engaging displays and programs that promote reading and literacy
- Manage library circulation systems and maintain accurate inventory records
- Supervise student library assistants and volunteers
- Ensure library space remains welcoming, organized, and conducive to learning
- Collaborate with teachers to support curriculum‑based research and information literacy
College and Career Assistant
- Provide comprehensive college and career planning support to students and families
- Maintain current knowledge of FAFSA procedures, scholarship opportunities, and college admission requirements
- Coordinate college visits, career fairs, and post‑secondary planning events
- Assist students with college applications, scholarship applications, and financial aid processes
- Develop and maintain partnerships with local colleges, universities, and career training programs
- Track student post‑secondary outcomes and maintain related data
- Coordinate work‑based learning opportunities, internships, and job shadowing experiences
Dual‑Role Responsibilities
- Transform library space to accommodate both traditional library services and college/career center functions
- Integrate college and career resources within the library setting
- Ensure confidentiality of student and family records and information
- Attend required meetings, trainings, and professional development activities
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent;
Associate’s degree preferred - Minimum of two years of experience working with adolescents in an educational setting
- Knowledge of library systems, cataloging, and information organization
- Understanding of college admission processes, FAFSA procedures, and financial aid programs
- Knowledge of Career and Technical Education (CTE) pathways, industry certifications, and apprenticeship programs
- Strong computer skills including database management, internet research, and standard office software
- Excellent and positive communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in an active, dynamic environment with frequent interruptions
- Experience supporting students with diverse academic, social, and economic backgrounds
- Understanding of workforce development and career‑related learning experiences
Preferred:
- Previous experience in both library operations and college/career guidance
- Knowledge of career and technical education (CTE) pathways
- Experience with student information systems and college/career planning software
- Bilingual capabilities (English/Spanish preferred)
- Ability to lift and move materials
- Prolonged periods of standing, walking, and sitting
- Frequent use of computer keyboard and visual display terminal
- Ability to reach, bend, and organize materials on shelves of various heights
Positive, student‑focused school environment with typical classroom noise levels. Position requires flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends for special events and programs.
