High School Counselor/Social Worker for Grades 9-12 (temporary for the 2026-27 school year)

The School Counselor/Social Worker implements a comprehensive program designed to guide and assist high school students to develop the skills necessary to achieve success throughout the ninth–twelfth grade experience. Counselors provide services that prepare students to build competencies in academic, career and personal/social development and promote a lifelong ability to learn, work and live through leadership between home, school and the community.

The Corbett High School Counseling role provides guidance both to individual students and the school as a whole. From the emotional and educational development of young people, to helping them explore potential pathways, the job of a High School Counselor requires an array of skills and experience.

• Provide individual and group counseling to students
• Assess and address students' academic, career, and personal/social development needs
• Develop and implement comprehensive school counseling programs
• Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and parents to support student success
• Assist students in setting realistic academic and career goals
• Facilitate career exploration and college admission processes
• Address and resolve students' personal and social issues
• Conduct workshops and presentations on relevant topics
• Maintain accurate records and documentation
• Monitor students' academic progress and intervene when necessary
• Refer students to external support services and resources as needed
• Provide crisis intervention and support
• Promote a positive school climate and culture
• Advocate for students' needs and rights
• Stay updated on educational policies and best practices
• Participate in professional development opportunities
• Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of counseling programs
• Provide consultation to school teams and families to develop crisis intervention plans, safety plans and provide community resources for students and families in crisis
• Provide consultation and support to school staff in supporting students with complex mental health needs
• Provide consultation to school staff within collaborative process and school buildings
• Collaborate with transition specialist, special education teachers, and school administrators to assist in placement of students with complex mental health needs
• Create and maintain partnerships with community based organizations and agencies, state and county agencies, hospitals and other school districts/programs

• Candidate must hold any of the following:
  • A TSPC Personnel Services License issued by the Teacher Standards and Practices Commission (TSPC) with a School Counselor, School Psychologist or School Social Worker endorsement
  • A Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) License or Clinical Social Work Associate (CSWA) issued by the Oregon Board of Licensed Social Workers
  • Knowledge of classroom behavior management strategies, social skills curriculum, and suicide prevention training
  • Knowledge of community resources, understanding and interpreting psychological reports effectively to others, and providing family, individual, and group consultation

• Training and/or experience in a similar school setting
• Bilingual/Bi-Cultural Chinese, Russian, Somali, Spanish, and Vietnamese applicants are highly desirable
• Master's in School Counseling

• Position requires the use of a personal automobile and possession of a valid Class C Oregon driver's license to drive to/from different locations. May be required to apply and be approved for a Type 10 Driver for school vehicle use to transport students
• Work hours may include on- and off-campus evening and weekend activities and meetings and district, school and student functions
• Other duties may include assignments as directed by immediate supervisor and/or Director of the program
