GENERAL DESCRIPTIONTo assist students in reaching their full potential for intellectual, physical, emotional, social, and psychological development and growth, and to assist in maintaining a safe and secure school environment. Design and deliver engaging, standards-aligned Social Studies lessons that foster curiosity, cultural awareness, and a deeper understanding of the world around them. Create an inclusive classroom environment that encourages respectful discussion, diverse perspectives, and active participation.
QUALIFICATIONS- Required to hold an Oregon teaching license as set by the Teacher Standards and Practices Commission for the State of Oregon with a Social Studies endorsement.
- Familiarity with state standards and curriculum frameworks.
- Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners.
- Ability to effectively manage and supervise students and their work.
- Ability to exhibit professionalism and effective human relations.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
- Ability to facilitate meetings and collaboration efforts with staff and community.
- Valid Oregon Driver’s License preferred.
- Prior successful teaching experience at the middle school level.
- Experience teaching in a rural or small‑school setting.
- Familiarity with tools such as MAP Growth or similar assessments.
Performs some or all of the following tasks. Other duties may be assigned.
- Meets the standards of Competent and Ethical Performance as outlined in Oregon Administrative Rules (OAR to ).
- Maintain current licenses and/or certificates required for the position.
- Create and model a respectful learning environment.
- Plan appropriate lessons and activities to meet students' needs.
- Use a variety of instructional techniques based upon sound education theory that are appropriate to students' needs.
- Assess student performance, interpret, and utilize the results of student performance assessment.
- Maintain accurate, complete and confidential records as required by law and district policy and administrative regulations.
- Establish and maintain open lines of communication with school staff and with parents/guardians concerning academic and behavioral progress of students.
- Implement modifications and accommodations for all students with IEPs.
- Utilize technology as related to job responsibilities.
- Maintain and update current Grade Book and online Parent Vue.
- Reflect upon own teaching and performance and accept and implement supervisory feedback to improve skills and services to students.
- Take primary responsibility for pursuing and evaluating own professional growth.
- Attend and participate in building staff meetings, IEP meetings, PLTs and district in‑service meetings.
- Participate in parent‑teacher conferences and school events.
- Perform physical requirements unaided or with the assistance of reasonable accommodation.
- Annually pass the district’s required online training by the district’s assigned due date.
- Follow district protocol for reporting absences.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENTSalary and work year to be according to the current negotiated contract.
