Job DescriptionCreswell School District is seeking appropriately licensed candidates for a 1.0 FTE Special Education Teacher position at Creslane Elementary for the 2026-27 school year. The teacher will instruction and supervise special education students for both comprehensive distance learning and in‑person instruction, fulfilling the established policies, rules, regulations, and performance standards of the district, state, and federal requirements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Model and teach respect with an awareness of diversity.
- Coordinate with the Special Education team, building administrator, and Director of Special Services in implementing students’ IEPs.
- Assist the team in establishing the educational plan and daily schedule in accordance with each student’s academic and behavioral needs.
- Work closely with the school psychologist and program staff to develop each student’s annual academic and behavior goals.
- Complete required IDEA paperwork and case‑management duties for all students on the caseload.
- Implement curriculum to meet core content area requirements.
- Design and deliver specially designed instruction based on students’ IEPs.
- Collaborate with specialists to ensure each student receives the full range of needed services.
- Write progress notes, incident reports, attendance, and other required documentation.
- Demonstrate a good understanding of special education disabilities and evidence‑based practices.
- Develop Functional Behavior Assessments, interview parents, and implement behavior intervention plans.
- Collaborate with parents/guardians to address student needs and communicate weekly.
- Maintain accurate and complete student progress records per policy.
- Standby for education‑related availability outside instructional time when required.
- Establish and maintain professional relationships and accept responsibility for co‑curricular activities as assigned.
- Attend faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
- Supervise SEED assistants as assigned.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
- Perform duties courteously and efficiently, building confidence among staff, students, and the public.
- Maintain regular attendance and punctuality in meeting deadlines and attending meetings.
- Observe district and professional standards.
- Work effectively and collaboratively with diverse populations.
- Show strong organizational skills under pressure.
- Respect confidential information and privacy.
- Support students and staff in career‑related learning standards.
- Collect, record, and store information electronically and traditionally.
- Develop job skills necessary to adapt to changes.
- Maintain personal appearance and hygiene appropriate to the position.
- Meet district physical ability and safety guidelines.
- Valid Oregon teacher’s license with Special Education endorsement.
- Content knowledge in the subject areas taught.
- Familiarity with state standards and curriculum framework.
- Knowledge and experience with differentiated instruction.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of state and federal education laws and student and staff rights.
- Professionalism and effective human relations.
- Ability to manage and supervise students and their work.
- Ability to direct the work of other staff members.
Performance will be evaluated annually in accordance with the School Board’s policy on evaluation of members of the Oregon Education Association.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS- Frequent or prolonged standing, walking and sitting.
- Moderate to high noise level.
- Frequent and prolonged talking and listening.
- Accurate perception of sound, vision, depth perception.
- Handling and working with a variety of materials.
- Lifting/carrying objects up to 15‑25 pounds occasionally.
- Possible exposure to bodily fluids due to student injury or illness.
- Exposure to chemicals in instructional and art supplies.
- Primarily indoors in school buildings, with occasional outdoor instruction or supervision.
- Close proximity to groups of students and adults.
- Evening and/or extended work hours may be required.
