Job DescriptionThis is a full‑time junior high/high school social studies teaching position located at Pacific High School in Sixes, OR, for the 2026‑2027 school year.
The certified staff member works under the general supervision of the building principal/vice principal and is primarily responsible for instruction and supervision of students.
The role includes teaching social studies courses to grades 7‑12 in all areas—Global Studies, U.S. History, Government, Economics—and a college/career exploration course for junior high students.
A sense of humor and genuine love for working with all students is a necessity. The position requires initiative, willingness to seek growth opportunities, work collaboratively, and engage community partners for real‑life learning.
MajorJob Responsibilities
- Design instruction based on the Oregon Department of Education adopted Social Sciences Standards and Common Core State Standards.
- Apply research‑based instructional strategies and assessment practices that support effective instruction.
- Demonstrate and model effective instructional strategies and assessment practices in the classroom.
- Address the needs of diverse learners with appropriate strategies.
- Use assessment data to prepare for instruction and set SMART goals.
- Follow through to show progress of student growth throughout the year.
- Implement successful classroom management strategies.
- Use technology to enhance student learning or demonstrate willingness to learn.
- Organize and commit to follow through on tasks.
- Establish and maintain excellent working relationships with students, teachers, administrators, support staff, parents, and community members.
- Communicate orally and in writing effectively to all stakeholders.
Successful applicants will keep and maintain accurate attendance, academic, and behavior records, meet deadlines set by the school and district, and preserve ethical behavior and confidentiality regarding student, staff, and parent information.
The district provides professional development opportunities both within the district and outside.
Teachers may transfer up to 10 years of experience. Extracurricular opportunities may be available for high school and/or junior high sports and activities.

Full Time
Salary$44,821 to $94,434 Per Year
