Position Summary: The educational assistant shall assist the teacher or building administrator in a supportive capacity. The role is adaptable to many support tasks within the educational environment.
Education, Experience and Certification / Licensure (Minimum Qualifications)- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least 18 years of age
- Standards of moral character as required of teachers (OAR )
- Completed two years of study at an institution of higher education; or obtained an Associate’s (or higher) degree; or met a rigorous standard of quality and demonstrate formal state or local academic assessment or para‑educator certificate program knowledge of and the ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics; or reading readiness, writing readiness, and mathematics readiness, as appropriate (Assessment offered by District).
- 1-2 years experience working as an educational assistant in a K‑12 school district
- Some college coursework
- Experience working with students with behavior opportunities
- Wage
Schedule:
$19.61 – $25.10 (2027‑26 rate TBD) - Work days: 180
- Personal days, Sick days
- JCSD 509-J pays employee's share (6%) of the Public Employees Retirement System Contribution
