Job Description:

Summary:

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Elementary Special Education Teacher to support students in a substantially separate classroom serving grades K–3 with moderate learning disabilities and social, emotional, and behavioral needs. This role is ideal for an educator who is passionate about individualized instruction, behavior support, and creating an inclusive learning environment that promotes academic, communication, social, and independent living skills.

You will work closely with multidisciplinary professionals and families to help students achieve meaningful educational progress.

What You'll Do:
  • Deliver individualized special education instruction aligned with students' IEP goals.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs, accommodations, modifications, and progress reports.
  • Create engaging, hands-on lessons that address academic, communication, social-emotional, and behavioral development.
  • Modify curriculum and instructional strategies to meet diverse student learning needs.
  • Collect student data, complete progress documentation, assessments, and Medicaid billing requirements.
  • Supervise classroom Teaching Assistants and provide instructional guidance.
  • Collaborate with BCBAs, Speech‑Language Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists, Counselors, Vision Specialists, and general education staff.
  • Participate in IEP meetings, multidisciplinary team meetings, professional development, and school committees.
  • Support students with activities of daily living (ADLs), including communication, mobility, feeding, toileting, and personal care as needed.
  • Promote positive behavior, independence, social skills, and successful participation across classroom and community settings.
Experience You'll Need:
  • Bachelor's degree required;
    Master's degree in progress required.
  • Valid Massachusetts DESE Special Education Teacher License (Moderate or Severe Disabilities), or eligibility to obtain licensure.
  • Experience working with students with autism spectrum disorder, developmental disabilities, emotional disabilities, or multiple disabilities.
  • Experience writing and implementing IEPs.
  • Strong classroom management and positive behavior support experience.
  • Experience modifying curriculum and implementing differentiated instruction.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and families.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to drive a school van during the school day.
  • Ability to support students with physical assistance and activities of daily living.
