Position Type:
Part‑time, 0.44 FTE (3.5 hrs/day)
Purpose
To improve student achievement by providing instructional and non‑instructional support to students under the supervision and guidance of a licensed teacher and/or school administrator.
The role includes assisting in a safe, healthy environment for students and performing general clerical duties as required.
Qualifications- A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent
- Willingness to learn and implement new programs
- Positive attitude
- Excellent communication, organizational and management skills
- Ability to work well with children and teachers
- Comprehension and execution of written and oral instructions within established timelines
- Basic technology skills
- Empathetic and disciplinary communication with students appropriate to age group
- Flexible and collaborative
- Support of individual students’ IEPs, behavior plans and other student plans
- Assist with classroom student supervision and communication of expectations
- Administer school‑wide assessments and maintain data integrity
- Implementation of approved behavior interventions (e.g., PBS, CPC, Calming Corners)
- Data entry and reporting support
- Establishment of a positive learning environment responsive to individual student needs
- Assist teachers in the social and educational development of students
- Implement district‑mandated intervention programs under teacher guidance, including assessment, placement, material preparation, instruction, and progress monitoring
- Provide teachers with data documenting student progress
- Maintain district guidelines on safety and confidentiality
- Create a safe and secure environment at all times, including playground, crosswalk, cafeteria, and pre‑school supervision
- Perform clerical support and basic maintenance of school equipment and supplies
- Maintain a confidential, non‑preferential, non‑judgmental demeanor toward students, staff, and program participants
- Work effectively with diverse students and acquire necessary information and training for effective work
- Exercise sound judgment in emergency and non‑emergency situations
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, staff, and the general public
- Prepare instructional materials for assigned area of work
- Supervise students during playground, cafeteria, and crosswalk duties
- Administer minor first aid as needed
- Follow oral and written instructions and complete tasks within established timelines
- Consult with teachers on programs and materials to meet student needs
- Work effectively with and respond to people from diverse cultures or backgrounds
- Demonstrate professionalism and appropriate judgment in behavior, speech, and dress in a neat, clean and appropriate manner for the assignment and work setting
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance
- Meet regularly with immediate supervisor
- Follow all district policies, work procedures and reasonable requests by proper authority
- Maintain the integrity of confidential information related to students, families, colleagues or district patrons
