Classroom teachers provide instruction to their assigned classroom or within their specific area of expertise working with the curriculum designed by the school district. They work directly with students, school staff, building and district administrators to meet the educational goals of the district.

The Pre-Kindergarten Teacher will ensure, support, and promote each child's learning, well being, and development in cooperation with their parents and other early childhood professionals in a manner consistent with Oregon Early Learning standards, PreK classroom certifications of quality such as SPARK, and day care licensing regulations. The Pre-Kindergarten Teacher ensures/completes developmental screening and follow-up and plans and provides a developmentally and culturally appropriate classroom experience which meets the needs of all children and their families.

The teacher will promote parent involvement by: providing tools and supports to parents as the primary educators of their child; planning and scheduling home visits and parent/teacher conferences; and engaging parents in their child's learning.

TTSD's PreK classrooms are fully inclusive and serve children of all abilities. Approximately 25% of students in the classroom will be served by NWRESD Early Childhood Special Education Services (ECSE) through Individualized Family Service Plans. The PreK Teacher will work closely with NRWESD ECSE to ensure that each student's needs are met and to coordinate with supportive services delivered by ECSE specialists within the classroom setting.

The PreK teacher will coordinate with a variety of internal and external organizational partners which may include:
Latino Network, Head Start, IRCO, the Tualatin High School and Tigard High School Child Development Career and Technical Education Programs, the TTSD Early Learning Family Resource Coordinator, and others.

• Teaches classes following District approved curriculum
• Conducts conferences and communicates with parents as necessary, including home visits
• Follows District standards including reporting concerns, abuse and infractions of student handbook policies
• Works effectively and collaborates with the building administrator and work team or grade level
• Demonstrates effective classroom management techniques
• Understands and complies with Oregon Teacher's Standards of Competent and Ethical Performance

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations,

Experience:

• Minimum of Bachelor's Degree in Education
• Valid Oregon Teaching License
• Early Learning Endorsement, Preferred
• Special Education Endorsement, Preferred
• 3-5 years Early Childhood teaching experience using developmentally appropriate practices, Preferred
• Fluency in Spanish language required for Two-Way Immersion PreK classroom positions

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
