Middle School Talented and Gifted (TAG) Coordinator
Reports to: Middle School Principal and K–12 TAG District Coordinator
Position SummaryThe Middle School TAG Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and supporting TAG services within the middle school. The coordinator serves as a building-level resource for TAG students, teachers, counselors, and families and works in collaboration with the K–12 TAG District Coordinator to ensure identified students receive appropriate educational opportunities and support.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Coordinate the TAG program and services at the middle school level.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for TAG students, staff, and families within the building.
- Meet with TAG students at least once each semester to review their educational needs, interests, and TAG services.
- Assist the K–12 TAG District Coordinator with the identification and screening of students for TAG services.
- Review new student enrollments and available records to determine whether students may qualify for TAG services.
- Maintain accurate records of TAG students and their participation in TAG services.
- Work with teachers and the school counselor to ensure TAG students are enrolled in appropriate courses and provided appropriate learning opportunities.
- Assist in developing and implementing Personalized Education Plans (PEPs) for TAG students.
- Help identify opportunities for enrichment, advanced coursework, independent study, internships, and other appropriate learning experiences.
- Work with teachers to identify appropriate instructional strategies and opportunities for TAG students.
- Collaborate with the school counselor and staff to monitor student progress and address student needs.
- Communicate with parents/guardians regarding TAG services, student needs, and educational opportunities as appropriate.
- Attend meetings with the K–12 TAG District Coordinator to discuss student needs, programming, identification, and other TAG-related matters.
- Maintain communication with the building principal regarding TAG programming and student needs.
- Work with the district TAG coordinator to ensure building-level services are consistent with district policies and Oregon requirements.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the building principal or K–12 TAG District Coordinator.
