The Southern Oregon ESD Focal Student Groups program seeks a Facilitator to implement the grant activities for the American Indian / Alaska Native Student Success Grant during the current grant cycle, which runs through June 30, 2027. This person will have a workspace at the SOESD District Office in Phoenix and will visit schools in Jackson, Josephine, and Klamath Counties to support Native American Student Union clubs and meet with district staff.
The primary objective of the grant is to plan, coordinate, and implement regional student events to support the development of an AI/AN Student Advisory Council. The Facilitator will use culturally-relevant approaches and practices to support a student-created council which will elevate student voices and create greater depth of understanding of student experiences, needs, and pathways to success. By empowering these student leaders through the AI/AN Student Advisory Council, their input may be heard and valued by districts and community organizations.
In addition, the Facilitator will provide support to Native American Student Union clubs in consortium districts.
If you have a strong background in the cultural context of Southern Oregon's Intertribal Native community and a passion for empowering Native youth, and can effectively build positive relationships while planning and implementing large-scale student events.
About SOESDSouthern Oregon ESD is located in the Rogue Valley, the cultural and economic heart of southern Oregon, home to legendary snow-skiing, white-water rafting, kayaking, hiking, fishing, as well as numerous cultural venues and events such as art galleries, the Britt Music Festivals, the Ashland Independent Film Festival, and the renowned Oregon Shakespeare Festival.
Program Facilitator I (Focal Student Groups)Position Goal
To provide program support under the direction of a supervisor by assisting in achieving program goals, maintaining accurate data, and supporting implementation activities. This position focuses on operational support and coordination to ensure program objectives are met in alignment with Board policy, procedures, and agency expectations.
Essential Functions- Support the implementation of assigned program activities under the direction of a supervisor.
- Collect and maintain program data to support supervisors in decision-making and compliance tracking.
- Facilitate day-to-day program operations and logistics.
- Assist in program communications with schools, districts, and community partners.
- Support the preparation of materials for reports and documentation as directed.
- Communicate with the Business Office regarding expenditures and budgeting needs.
- Participate in implementing program evaluation tools and processes.
- Support professional development (PD) activities and assist in coordination as assigned.
- Maintain cooperative working relationships with SOESD employees, districts, and external partners.
- Participate in meetings, trainings, and professional development relevant to assigned work.
- Follow established SOESD policies, administrative procedures, and applicable regulations.
- Perform physical requirements unaided or with the assistance of reasonable accommodation.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
- Associate's degree or work experience in similar roles equivalent to three (3) years.
- Experience supporting program operations or projects with established goals or timelines.
- Experience working with diverse populations, including culturally, economically, and linguistically diverse communities.
- Strong organizational, communication, and technology skills.
- Valid Oregon Driver's License.
