Duties & Responsibilities

Coordination, Outreach and Tribal Partnerships

  • Coordinates all program activities, events, and culturally specific outreach in alignment with institutional policies, department goals, and approved program objectives. Plans and coordinates Chemeketa information sessions, family and parent workshops, financial aid presentations, family social nights, and scholarship workshops. Oversees event logistics, including scheduling, coordination of resources, participant engagement, and successful event execution.
  • Lead culturally specific outreach, recruitment, and partnership activities both on campus and off campus. This includes frequently traveling to meet students, families, and community members where they are by hosting information sessions, orientations, and workshops directly within Tribal facilities and community spaces in partnership with Tribal governments, Native-serving organizations, local school districts, and community-based organizations.
  • Cultivate and build upon existing institutional partnerships, such as the New Beginnings for Tribal Students in Oregon initiative with Oregon State University, to strengthen culturally responsive transfer pathways.
  • Plans, Coordinates, and executes program events, including family centered workshops, cultural events programming, campus visits, and onboarding experiences.

Student Navigation, Advising, and Holistic Support

  • Provide individualized guidance and support to help current and prospective students navigate Chemeketa onboarding systems and overcome barriers to persistence.
  • Monitors student progress using EAB Navigate and Slate, proactively identifying academic and personal needs, executing timely interventions, and utilizing Chemeketa's Early Alert System for attendance or academic flags.
  • Delivers financial literacy education and scholarship assistance, guiding students through funding opportunities such as the Oregon Tribal Student Grant, Oregon Promise, and federal/state financial aid.
  • Connect students to other wraparound support programs and external resources that address barriers related to housing, food security, transportation, and childcare, while collaborating closely with TRIO/CCP programs for seamless support.

Family Engagement & Community Building
