Field Crops Undergraduate Research Assistant

Position Duties

This position will assist with a variety of projects for the South Willamette Valley Field Crops Extension and Research Program. This program conducts research on seed and cereal crop production systems including grass seed, clover seed, cereals and other field crops. Current projects include pest management (slugs, voles, insects), soil health, drone aerial imagery, and plant growth regulators.

The duties of this position will include set up, sampling and data collection for on-farm field trials. Indoor work will include sample processing, data entry and data analysis.

* * International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered “full‑time” by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.

Majoring in, or previous course work in agricultural sciences or related fields (e.g.soil science, crop science, horticulture, environmental science, biology, etc.). Experience with GIS. Experience with programming in R, Python or other languages.

• The position will be based at the Linn County Extension Office in Tangent, about 15 minutes from campus.
• Available hours will be up to the maximum for student employees during the academic year, and up to 40 hours per week during the summer.
