TRC Visual Arts & Design Lab Assistant

assist in maintenance and ongoing operations of art department studio spaces. Work on a directed but independent basis to keep art spaces organized and clean. Inspect art equipment (drawing tables, easels, etc.) to ascertain if any are in need of repair, and communicate with immediate supervisor and other faculty to ensure completion of repair or maintenance. Assist instructors with materials for classes, including possibly drawing and painting supplies, framing and matting, ceramics, metal smithing, and other mediums used in classes.

Assist instructors in research and special projects as needed. Set up/remove av equipment. Help organize, install, and remove art exhibitions. Send e-mails and make phone calls to artists/students, and other duties as assigned.

must be a currently enrolled rcc student with 6 credits or more and a minimum cumulative gpa of 2.0.

familiarity with the visual arts via practice or instruction is desirable.

preferred familiarity with microsoft office programs.

be prompt, efficient, flexible and professional. Ability to work independently and follow instructions. Ability to pass a criminal background check.

manual dexterity and coordination are required for more than half of the daily work period (about 50%) which is spent sitting while operating office equipment such as computers, keyboards, 10-key, telephones, and other standard office equipment.
