Job Description

The Mechanical Drafter will create detailed 2D and 3D models and drawings for prototype components and assemblies using Solid Works, AutoCAD, or CATIA. The role requires a strong understanding of tolerance stack-ups, manufacturing processes, and the ability to prototype and refine designs effectively. The drafter will perform tolerance analysis and ensure all drawings include accurate dimensions, materials, and finishes. Additionally, the drafter will translate complex technical concepts and procedures into understandable instructions using drawings, images, and text.

Responsibilities

+ Collaborate with designers and engineers to clean up designs, redlines, and new prototypes.

+ Create and work on CAD drawings, ensuring they meet specifications.

+ Write various pieces of documentation to support engineering change orders and BOMs.

+ Use ERP systems and Excel for pulling BOMs and assembly instructions.

+ Perform tolerance analysis and ensure all drawings include accurate dimensions, materials, and finishes.

+ Translate technical concepts into clear instructions for builder airplane assembly.

Essential Skills

+ Proficiency in Solid Works and AutoCAD.

+ Experience in drafting, including GD&T and redlining.

+ Manufacturing documentation experience, including writing and reviewing.

+ Support for BOM and ECO processes.

Additional

Skills & Qualifications

+ Technical writing experience, including work instructions, manuals, and assembly notes.

+ Experience or passion in aviation/aircraft, including a pilot license or desire to obtain one.

+

Experience with 'Kit Building'.

Work Environment

The work environment includes both shop and office settings. The team is growing rapidly, with multiple R&D projects underway, making it a great place for those with aviation-related hobbies or interests. Compensation and benefits include salary, 401K, health coverage, an employee stock ownership plan (ESOP), and access to an employee flying club. Employees receive 2 weeks of PTO, 6 holidays, and sick time annually.

This is a Contract position based out of Aurora, OR.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.
