Process Control Engineer
Georgia‑Pacific’s Consumer Products division is seeking a Process Control Engineer to join our Toledo Container board Process Control team located in Toledo, OR.
The role involves designing, implementing, and supporting existing and new Process Control systems including Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), and custom control applications in a Microsoft environment to meet manufacturing needs and production goals.

What You Will Do- Troubleshoot and evaluate root cause, implementing long‑term solutions.
- Solve complex problems with minimal guidance.
- Evaluate processes and equipment operation – work with drives and equipment integration.
- Plan and manage process improvement projects.
- Read and understand P&IDs, loop sheets, and electrical drawings.
- Learn new programming languages and understand control loop dynamics and tuning.
- Work with DCS and PLC platforms such as Honeywell Experion, Rockwell RS Logix 5000, Mod 300, and Modicon.
- Perform project scope definitions and manage a wide variety of technical projects.
- Communicate and collaborate with operational, environmental, maintenance, and engineering teams while remaining self‑motivated.
- Effectively communicate with internal customers and leadership.
- Work with a sense of urgency and a customer‑focused mindset.
- Display proficiency with Honeywell Experion and Rockwell PLC products and act as a resource for less experienced colleagues.
- Proven experience in process controls/automation.
- Experience with PLCs (Rockwell preferred), HMIs, and automated control systems.
- Experience programming and hardware management in industrial process control platforms and networks.
- Experience reviewing basic loop sheets and/or P&IDs.
- Legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring visa transfer or sponsorship.
- Bachelor's Degree or higher in Chemical Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
- Experience working within a pulp and paper operation.
- Experience with protocols such as Modbus, Profibus, Control Net, and/or Ethernet/IP.
- Experience with Honeywell Experion, RS Logix 5000, Mod 300, and Modicon.
