Opening Statement:
This position is open to two P-levels:
Associate Control Systems Specialist (Grade 5 / P1 – Entry) and Control Systems Specialist (Grade 6 / P2 – Intermediate). The level at which an offer is made will be determined based on the selected candidate's qualifications, skills, and experience.
As a Control Systems Specialist, you will deliver expert technical support for SCADA systems and Operational Technology computer networks across design, operations, and maintenance functions. This position requires strong analytical skills to interpret business processes and implement effective solutions.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain and optimize SCADA software applications.
- Manage user access and permissions.
- Diagnose and resolve complex communication issues.
- Support critical infrastructure including computer hardware, control systems, networking equipment, and fiber optic connections.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with Subject Matter Experts and Project Engineers.
- Strong problem‑solving skills with a talent for developing innovative solutions.
- Technical expertise across multiple platforms and systems.
- Forward‑thinking approach to system optimization.
Production Control Systems
- Assist in the configuration of devices used in the control systems and help technicians in troubleshooting problems.
- Assist engineering and project teams with programming and commissioning of control systems.
- Support the modification of programs for PLC, DCS, SCADA, and HMIs.
- Assist in maintaining existing DCS and HMI platforms, auxiliary control systems to minimize downtime and performance losses.
- Maintain user access to control systems.
- With guidance, provide first‑level support for troubleshooting system failures (controls/graphics, field devices, electrical).
- With guidance, support troubleshooting failures on IT platforms: software applications, operating systems, and computer networks.
- Follow procedures to complete performance tests of control equipment and systems.
- Document testing results and maintain testing procedures.
- Perform system performance audits and document results.
- Participate in project design reviews to ensure P&IDs, instrumentation specs, and other engineering documents meet standards.
- Communicate with site management regarding product design and schedule.
- Provide information to other team members.
- Ensure all processes align to appropriate standards, regulations, and laws.
- Maintain compliance‑related documentation.
- Run reports and analyze data as needed.
- Ensure safe work practices.
- Follow quality documentation forms and execute them prior, during and after each testing process.
- Support site operational maintenance or testing elements in support of engineering and construction needs.
Production Control Systems
- Lead site commissioning activities and train site personnel on control system applications.
- Responsible for the modification of programs for PLC, DCS, SCADA, and HMIs.
- Responsible for maintaining and enhancing existing DCS and HMI platforms and auxiliary systems to minimize downtime and performance losses.
