PCT - Pacific Cast Technologies is seeking an Industrial Automation Engineer to support advanced aluminum investment casting operations in Salem, OR. In this precision-driven, safety-focused role, you will design, program, and optimize automation and control systems for furnaces, casting cells, machining, and material handling. Responsibilities include PLC/HMI development, integration of robotics and sensors, troubleshooting equipment issues, improving OEE, and ensuring process reliability.
You'll collaborate with manufacturing, maintenance, and quality teams to drive continuous improvement, support new product introductions, and sustain world-class aerospace and industrial manufacturing performance.
Responsibilities
- Design, program, and maintain PLC and HMI systems for casting and machining equipment
- Integrate and optimize robotics, motion control, and sensors in production cells
- Troubleshoot automation, controls, and instrumentation issues to minimize downtime
- Analyze data to improve OEE, throughput, and process reliability
- Implement automation-related safety and interlock systems in compliance with standards
- Collaborate with manufacturing, maintenance, and quality on process improvements
- Support new product introductions and equipment commissioning
- Develop and maintain automation documentation, schematics, and standards
- Train operations and maintenance personnel on automated systems
- Participate in continuous improvement and root cause analysis activities
Required Skills
- PLC programming (Allen-Bradley/Rockwell or similar)
- HMI/SCADA configuration
- Industrial robotics integration
- Motion control and servo systems
- Electrical and control panel design
- Industrial networking and field buses (Ether
- Net/IP, Profibus, etc.)
- Instrumentation and sensors (temperature, pressure, flow, position)
- Troubleshooting of automation and control systems
- Data analysis for process and OEE improvement
- Knowledge of industrial safety standards (e.g., NFPA 70
- E, ISO/ANSI)
