This Is More Than a Finance Manager Role

Columbia River Health is seeking an experienced Finance Manager to provide hands-on financial leadership for a mission-driven community health organization in Boardman, Oregon.

This position requires much more than general accounting experience.

The successful candidate must understand the financial realities of rural healthcare and bring prior experience working within either a:

  • Federally Qualified Health Center
  • Community health center
  • Critical Access Hospital
  • Comparable rural healthcare organization with complex reimbursement and regulatory requirements

This is not a role for someone learning healthcare finance for the first time.

Columbia River Health needs a seasoned professional who can understand the numbers, strengthen financial systems, ensure accuracy, improve accountability, and help leadership make informed decisions.

What You Will Do

As Finance Manager, you will oversee key financial operations and help ensure that Columbia River Health maintains accurate, compliant, and reliable financial systems.

Responsibilities are expected to include:

  • Managing day-to-day accounting and financial operations
  • Overseeing general ledger activity, account reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end closing
  • Preparing timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
  • Supporting annual operating and capital budget development
  • Monitoring actual performance against budget and identifying meaningful variances
  • Preparing financial forecasts, cash-flow analyses, and leadership reports
  • Maintaining effective internal controls and financial policies
  • Ensuring appropriate segregation of duties and accountability across financial processes
  • Supporting federal grant accounting, reporting, and compliance
  • Tracking restricted funds, grant revenue, expenditures, and supporting documentation
  • Ensuring financial activity is consistent with approved budgets and funding requirements
  • Supporting Medicare, Medicaid, commercial insurance, self-pay, and other healthcare revenue streams
  • Partnering with revenue cycle and billing teams to improve collections and financial performance
  • Monitoring accounts receivable, denials, contractual adjustments, and reimbursement trends
  • Supporting the organization’s sliding-fee discount, billing, and collections processes
  • Coordinating accounts payable, purchasing, payroll-related accounting, and cash management
