Job Overview

The PSR works as part of the medical office team performing clerical duties necessary to assist patients. This includes, but is not limited to, registering patients, answering telephones, scheduling appointments, directing calls.

Responsibilities
  • Greets patients in a professional and courteous manner whether in person or over the phone.
  • Answers and directs calls.
  • Works cooperatively and supportively with all staff and patients.
  • Schedules appointments and monitors schedules for appointment optimization.
  • Verifies insurance eligibility.
  • Gathers up-to-date patient registration and payer information.
  • Inform patients of our Sliding Fee Discount Program and other CRH resources.
  • Ability to process payments via cash, check, credit card, and money order with accurate reporting.
  • Address issues that occur throughout the day to limit issues for other CRH staff and patients by exercising effective judgement, sensitivity, and creativity to changing needs and situations.
  • Provides patient guidance on concerns, complaints and questions that do not need escalated to the PSR Lead, Front Office Manager or other management team. Reports serious issues to Director and/or manager who need to address issue.
  • Other duties as assigned by the PSR Lead or Front Office Manager
Experience
  • High School graduate or GED equivalent.
  • Experience with Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Proficiency in typing is required.
  • Previous EHR experience preferred.
  • The ability to relate effectively to the public, the patient, and CRH staff.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical functions consistently and accurately.
  • The ability to work with a team, independently or with only minimal supervision to carry out the assigned duties of this position.
  • Must be qualified in Basic Life Support techniques (or ability to complete)
  • Ability to communicate in English and Spanish required.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information ethically and responsibly in order to protect the confidentiality of patients, employees and business information.
  • Ability to assist other coworkers effectively with positive results.
  • Ability to work under stress while maintaining composure.
  • Must be a person of high integrity.
  • Should be compassionate and respectful to patients and staff alike.
