Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced
Cardiovascular Technologist (RCIS/RCES)to support diagnostic, interventional, and therapeutic procedures within cardiac and vascular laboratory environments.

The Cardiovascular Technologist will assist credentialed providers during cardiac and vascular procedures while ensuring patient safety, maintaining sterile techniques, operating specialized equipment, and supporting a collaborative care team.

The ideal candidate will have strong interventional cardiac lab experience, excellent technical skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Serve as a scrub assistant or monitor/recorder for cardiology and radiology procedures.

  • Prepare and position patients for invasive cardiovascular procedures.

  • Assist with cardiovascular testing and record patient hemodynamic activity using specialized equipment.

  • Manage patient arterial and venous access sites following procedures, including sheath removal and hemostatic device management.

  • Set up, maintain, and troubleshoot Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP) equipment when required.

  • Recognize cardiac arrhythmias and hemodynamic waveforms and communicate findings to providers and team members.

  • Administer intra-coronary and/or intra-arterial medications under physician supervision.

  • Maintain sterile fields using appropriate aseptic techniques.

  • Operate and maintain hemodynamic monitoring equipment.

  • Start and maintain IV access with appropriate training and certification.

  • Support use of IVUS and Site Rite ultrasound equipment.

  • Perform basic and advanced life support procedures, including defibrillation when required.

  • Perform point-of-care testing including:

    • Activated clotting time (ACT)

    • Oxygen saturation testing

    • Arterial blood gases (ABG)

  • Provide patient education regarding procedures.

  • Participate in on-call rotation and respond onsite within 30 minutes when required.

  • Maintain supplies, equipment, and clean work areas.

  • Perform quality assurance activities and assist with equipment troubleshooting.

  • Coordinate vendor service calls when needed.

  • Assist with patient transportation as required.

Required Qualifications

Experience:
  • Successful completion of an accredited invasive cardiovascular technologist training program, OR

  • Two years of education in an allied health science field (such as nursing, respiratory therapy, radiologic technology, or emergency medicine technology) with comparable work experience.

  • Minimum two years of recent on-the-job training or experience in an Interventional Cath Lab environment.

Certifications:

Candidates must obtain one of the following certifications within 12 months of hire:

  • Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES)

  • Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS)

  • ARRT Cardiac Interventional Radiography Certification

  • ARRT Vascular Interventional Radiography Certification

Additional required certifications:

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)

  • Basic Life Support (BLS)

Additional Requirements
  • Ability to respond within 30 minutes when assigned on-call emergency coverage.

  • Ability to recognize and interpret cardiac dysrhythmias.

  • Strong analytical skills to monitor patient conditions and perform hemodynamic calculations.

  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative healthcare environment.

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Five years of recent interventional cath lab experience.

  • Current RCIS certification for Cardiovascular Labs.

  • Current RCES certification for Electrophysiology Labs.
