With Guide Dogs for the Blind, you can use your cooking and cleaning skills to serve a fulfilling mission – helping to provide a welcoming and satisfying environment for clients who are visually impaired or blind and who are visiting our campus in Boring, Oregon to receive a guide dog. As Cook/Relief Housekeeper, you will provide support in both the kitchen and housekeeping departments.
This is a day shift position, Thursday through Monday from 10am to 6:30pm.
- Prepare meals for clients and staff
- Follow all food safety and food handling procedures
- Provide coverage for absences and assist with the preparation and service for special events
- Follow through with clients’ medical and personal preferences (both dietary and housing)
- Assists with maintaining all common areas of the dormitory and student rooms, including mopping; vacuuming; dusting and polishing furniture; cleaning and disinfecting sink areas and bathrooms; scrubbing, buffing and waxing floors; and carpet care
- Assists with maintaining necessary supplies and provide linens to the student rooms
- Maintain good verbal and written communications with clients, public, volunteers, co-workers, teammates, instructors, and supervisor

- Experience in food preparation and cooking for groups of 10 or more
- Housekeeping experience preferred
- Current Serv Safe certification or ability to obtain within three months of hire
- Demonstrated knowledge of food service standards
- Demonstrated reliability and ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong English language communication skills
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. and stay on your feet for extended periods
- Ability to work full-time, with flexibility for day, evening, and weekend shifts when necessary

Pay Range
$22.00-$25.00/hour
