Job Opportunity

Best Western Ponderosa Lodge is searching for a Part-Time Front Desk Agent to join our team. Working closely with the General Manager, our Front Desk Agent is the face of our hotel, ensuring every guest has a superior experience throughout their stay. This role involves maintaining the cleanliness and presentation of the lobby, breakfast area, restrooms, and exterior spaces.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Welcomes and greets guests with a warm friendly smile
  • Responds promptly to customer needs
  • Maintains an inventory of vacancies, reservations, and room assignments
  • Possesses a working knowledge of the reservations department
  • Takes same-day reservations and future reservations when necessary
  • Knows cancellation procedures
  • Knows room locations, types of rooms available, and room rates
  • Registers arriving guests and assigns rooms
  • Coordinates room status updates with the housekeeping department
  • Uses persuasive selling techniques to sell rooms and to promote other services of the hotel
  • Knows daily activities and meetings taking place in the hotel
  • Reports any unusual occurrences or requests to the manager or assistant manager
  • Manages and resolves guest complaints in a professional and courteous manner
  • Processes guest check-outs and handles monetary transactions
  • Maintains customers' privacy
  • Keeps high-traffic areas clean and organized
  • Punctuality, dependability, and regular attendance
  • Treat all coworkers with respect
  • Adheres to all hotel policies and procedures as outlined by hotel standards and Federal, State, and Local laws, including OSHA regulations
  • Must use appropriate protective equipment as needed for the job task
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Successful Candidates Must Have:

  • Eighteen years of age or older
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Computer skills such as typing and navigating property management systems
  • General knowledge and experience in hotel facility operations
  • Knowledge of surrounding areas and local events
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and handle stressful situations
  • Ability to take direction and supervision from management
  • Strong multi-tasking and prioritization skills in a fast-paced environment
  • Organized with strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of proper telephone etiquette and credit, check cashing, and cash handling policies
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Sitting, standing, walking, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, and squatting in the performance of daily activities will be expected, in addition to grasping and repetitive hand movement
  • Ability to lift and move 30 lbs. or more
